With the Same Model
WATERLOO, ONTARIO, October 2, 2002 - Arius Software Corporation announced that its latest release of ConnectedDB™ framework will now support .NET applications.
Sun Microsystems offers Java-based Sun™ONE architecture and Microsoft now offers .NET™ on Windows. These two architectures provide very different tool sets to accomplish similar goals in different situations. ConnectedDB™ allows deployment upon both architectures. Arius Software Corporation is the emerging innovator in Wealth Management Client Value Analysis (CVA).

.NET involves many substantial changes to Microsoft technologies including Extensible Markup Language (XML), a text-based format for transmitting data allowing greater compatibility between dissimilar systems. XML forms the basis for web services as it is the underlying language used in the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Microsoft's new server products provide SOAP support to allow any type of computer to access their information. ConnectedDB™ uses SOAP to communicate with Microsoft databases and Sun's Enterprise Java Beans™ (EJB).
Language Independence with Common Language Run-Time
"Another important feature of .NET is language independence accomplished through the Common Language Run-time (CLR)." says Adam Zimmer, President Arius Software Corporation. " Microsoft and others have developed CLR compilers for many different languages such as COBOL. In fact objects written in one of these languages can work with objects created in another. ConnectedDB™ allows you to design applications declaratively in terms of objects, specifying what needs to be done, not how it must be done. This abstraction eliminates the need for specifying complicated details. With the simple click of a button ConnectedDB generates a Java Graphical User Interface (GUI) which works with a Microsoft backend or alternatively a Microsoft C# GUI can be generated which hooks-up to Sun EJBs™."
